Inclusive Recreation Services
Purpose: Inclusive Recreation Services, together with community partners in Simcoe County, work to support the inclusion of children with multiple special needs, including physical, developmental and/or communications disability, in community recreation activities.

Services Provided:
Consultation Services
- Consultation service regarding individual children is provided to community recreation programs
- Planning services for recreation program (e.g. resource allocation, scheduling inclusion spaces)
Skill Building
- Sessions are 4-6 one hour play-based sessions with teachers or recreation staff and a small group of children
- Sessions include: Movement skills, building sport skills, listening, following routines, turn-taking and participation
- Dates and times for community based skill building sessions are posted on our website
Training
- Inclusion training for adult leaders, e.g. teachers and recreation staff. Included are Strategies for Positive Behaviour, Adapting and Modifying Activities, Building Inclusive Environments. Trainings are adapted to meet your organizations needs.
Presentations
- To increase the awareness about children with special needs and/or
- To increase the understanding of the benefits of inclusion in community recreation programs

How we are Funded:
- Funding is provided by the Children’s Treatment Network of Simcoe-York (CTN), by other agency contributions and by donations from service clubs and organizations.
Service clubs and organizations have donated to Inclusive Recreation to ensure that more children with multiple special needs can participate in recreation programs.
Hours of Service: 8:30 - 4:30 with some flexibility.
