Early Intervention Program
The Early Intervention Program works with families who have children 2 years to school entry when there is concern about some aspect of development. Developmental concerns may be related to speech, physical, behavioural and/or cognitive development.
Families are recognized as a main strength and influence in the lives of children. The Early Intervention Program works directly with parents and children either in the family home or at our office location. For children involved in day nursery programs, the Early Intervention Worker provides support and/or consultation to ensure full participation with peers. The Early Intervention Program provides Service Coordination to help families understand the social service system and to help families in accessing other available services. The Early Intervention Program may stay involved until children enter school, at which time follow up services are provided.
Services may include:
- Individualized planning with families
- Individual work with parents and children
- Support to children in inclusive child care setting
- Service coordination
- Developmental monitoring
- Consultation to other Early Childhood Educators, and other Early Intervention Professionals
- Support for transition to school and/or follow-up services
