Adult Protective Service Worker Program

 
Adult Protective Services (APS) provides case management and advocacy services to adults who have a developmental disability.

Offices are located in Midland, Collingwood, Orillia, Barrie, Bradford and Alliston. 

Referrals for the program can come from: 

  • Individuals directly; or
  • With consent from the individual:
    - family members
    - community agencies or organizations;
    - schools; or
    - Doctors, lawyers and other professions.

The individual wanting support is someone who:

  • is 18 years of age or older;
  • has a developmental disability; and
  • is typically living independently or moving towards independence in a community setting without significant means of social support.

Our case management services are funded through the Ministry of Community and Social Services.

Goal

The goal of the Adult Support Services is to enable adults with developmental delays living within their particular community setting to lead lives which reflect their values and choices.  It is a voluntary program.  There is no fee for this service.

Services

  • Service Coordination / Case Management
  • Assistance to access necessary and available community services
  • Consultation with Families

Direct Services may include:

  • Seeking accommodation
  • Budget Counseling
  • Short Term Emotional Support
  • Respite Care Service
  • Transition planning
  • Outreach
  • Community Development

Services are offered according to individual needs and goals.
